From exile, Grow man

For this I bless you as the ruin falls. The pains you give me are more precious than all other gains.

Sometimes our heroes disappoint us.

We trust, we adore, we struggle to closely keep in time with their footsteps until one day we realize our cadence diverged a half step ago and you’re unsure of whether it was you or them who missed it. I understand that the difference in beat doesn’t mean one…

Right on target. Great post.

A video for [Bonus Track 2] either created by the band or by a fan (my bet is on the latter).  They say that the title of this track is “Walk Toward My Love,” but I can neither confirm nor deny that title.  It, somehow, doesn’t seem fitting for this song.  I was thinking more along the lines of “Death Throes” or something like that.  Eh, whatever.  Some interesting imagery on the video though.

[Bonus Track 2] by Tarantella

Though this song had the most unfortunate fate of remaining “unnamed” and, therefore, not fully cared for like all songs should be, it still presents itself as one of the stronger songs on the album.  Taking a note or two from the heavy distortion of the shoe-gazers and the terrifying backing vocals of Nick Cave and Queens of the Stone Age, this songs just exudes the end of the world.  And Kal Calhoone’s vocals just add the right touch of swagger and eeriness that is needed to complete the full feeling that is experienced in the listening of this song.

A Chi Sa Dove Sara by Tarantella

It has the rhythm and feeling of a waltz, as the strings and guitar and bass create musical images of circular movements in endless procession.  This song struck me from the very first time I heard it, it just grabs on and doesn’t let go.  Plus the piano interlude is enough to place this as one of the best songs on the album.  “You are as sweet as harmony…at least you used to be” is what Kal Calhoone sings in her somewhat lazy drawl.  This song is as sweet as harmony…and still is.
