Cripplegate (Standing on Glass) by Wovenhand
Starting out with a simple banjo introduction, reminiscent of 16 Horsepower more than Wovenhand, Cripplegate builds with percussion and atmospheric background noises. This is a fairly straightforward song musically, but the lyrical quality amplified by Edwards’ vocals sealed the deal on this song.
“I wish to know nothing here
save the blood of the cross
in you alone
in you alone
there is no harm
in you alone.”
